I’m from Iowa City, IA and love to say that I’m a Big 10 gold and yellow girl at heart—think Michigan maize, Purdue old gold, and Hawkeye yellow. I try to get back to Iowa 2-3 times a year or meet up with my family in Chicago, IL when we get the chance—it’s the perfect in between spot for us. Go Cubs!
Most of my hobbies revolve around being outdoors and doing something active. Whether it’s training for a triathlon, skiing, hiking, or camping, you can find me seeking vitamin D most weekends (sometimes a rarity in Southeast Michigan). In the past couple years, I’ve especially enjoyed the T-Rex triathlon series, brief getaways to Nordhouse Dunes, and a week-long backpacking trip on Isle Royale National Park.
I also love reading, cooking, and baking. I enjoy getting groups together to bake cakes for lab birthdays and have recently been getting into making my own fresh pasta. My favorite book of late is The Briar Club by Kate Quinn, but I frequently go for anything from historical fiction to mystery to self-help nonfiction. You can often catch me with an audiobook in my ear.
